Hello Everyone. We talk with Casey Doran about his photography and films, overcoming alcoholism and social anxiety, balancing tragedy and comedy in art, like throwing a loaf of bread over the Westboro baptist church fence, and some of the new projects that he has in the works. Casey’s art is like a window into your own soul, he keeps his process vague enough that we as viewers are able to read into his work our own backgrounds and view of the world. We look forward to talking with Casey again in more depth about his film “Pink Cloud”.
Casey's work is truly stunning. What I appreciate most about it is its balance between comedic and serious/tragic. I like that he is influenced by skateboard culture too because I have always loved watching that stuff, just never gotten out into the concrete. I bmxed for a while but nothing serious like the warriors of the road skuffing their way through the country like the people on "King of The Road."
Casey has made some great films too, and the reason I got in touch with him in the first place was that he posted an article doing an interview with one of the Gummo kids. His film "Pink Cloud" also has another Gummo kid as an actor in it. I have a deep love for that film, I think that it has influenced everything that I have done.
I am really happy about this interview, I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I and Dustin did doing it.
